Detect an early plot, choose a response and protect the presidency from removal.
A regular presidency can develop a fictional cabinet plot when loyalty, public support and institutions remain weak. Night-meeting, intelligence-briefing and broadcast scenes show the threat. The president can act early, monitor an initial warning or respond when the plot becomes urgent.
The pressure meter is a bounded game index, not a percentage probability of losing. It uses saved country and cabinet conditions. Replays, offline time and opening a screen do not move the plot.

How pressure builds§
The two least loyal ministers, stability, party unity, approval and institutional trust contribute to pressure. A trip or medical absence adds pressure when delegation is weak. Exposure from political payments can increase it too.
The first three decisions provide a grace period. Two consecutive high-pressure saved policies, sufficiently weak cabinet loyalty and enough remaining decisions can create an early warning. Terms shorter than six decisions do not open a plot. At most one plot resolves per term.
Early warning and escalation§
The warning names fictional suspects and shows before other emergency dialogs. You may act early, close it to the persistent desk notice or explicitly monitor once. Early intervention cannot produce a coup game-over.
The next saved policy either closes the warning if support recovers enough, or makes it urgent. An urgent plot needs a saved response before another policy decision. You can leave the game and return; there is no real-time countdown. Other pending protests or breaking-news incidents remain queued.
Response options§
| Response | Political capital | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| Independent inquiry | 10 | Investigate the recorded plot. |
| Cabinet reshuffle | 12 | Needs Senate support and suitable improved replacements. |
| Coalition repair and address | 6 | Rebuild the coalition and communicate. |
| Parliamentary oversight | 0 | Available when capital is exhausted; weak institutions limit effectiveness. |
| Return from a trip or medical leave | 4 | Only during an active absence; cancels unfinished benefits. |
| Monitor | 0 | Early stage only, once. |
| Dismiss the urgent warning | 0 | Requires explicit acknowledgement of possible removal. |
Stopped, survived or removed§
Saved pressure, public and institutional support, the loyal coalition and your response determine the outcome. An urgent plot may be stopped, leave a surviving government with damage, or remove the president. Retrying a committed response cannot reroll or charge it twice.
A response costs no additional policy decision or calendar month, but contributes to the existing workload system. A saved newspaper and the record explain the outcome. The story dropdown replays it without repeating the response.
What remains after game over§
Removal ends this presidency. Your account, character, country and prior reports remain available to review and share. A paid tenure purchase cannot reinstate a removed government. Start a new presidency if you want a new attempt.
The conspiracy system does not run in the Monthly Challenge or locked lower careers. An eligible second term can develop a new plot based on its own governing conditions.
