Choose how a policy is carried out and what authority it requires.
The decision mechanism identifies the route you are using to act. Auto lets the analyst choose a route from the proposal. You can also select a mechanism yourself, but the game still checks the content and institutional constraints.
Contents
Available mechanisms§
| Mechanism | Typical use in the game |
|---|---|
| Auto | Allow the proposal assessment to classify the action. |
| Legislation | Propose a legal or statutory change that may depend on Assembly support. |
| Executive action | Use an administrative programme within executive authority. |
| Statement | Communicate a position; words alone have limited service-delivery effects. |
| Diplomacy | Engage an external partner or regional body. |
| Security | Coordinate a lawful security response within the abstract simulation. |
Institutional checks§
With checks enabled, authority, legislative support, funding and delivery capacity matter. Naming executive action does not make any proposal lawful or executable. The game reports rejected or constrained checks so you can distinguish disagreement with an idea from difficulty carrying it out.
Mechanisms during priority incidents§
A forced breaking-news response requires an action policy that addresses the recorded incident. If the analyst classifies it as only a statement, the decision is rejected. A protest may separately offer an Address the nation response. That speech is not an extra scored policy decision.
Game model and real institutions§
These mechanisms are simplified routes for a fictional presidency, not a guide to exercising real legal powers. For terms such as executive, legislature, bill and veto, use the Political glossary.
