The difference between simulated months, policy decisions and a real deadline.
Regular presidential terms run for 3, 6, 9 or 12 simulated months. A term contains several policy decisions; one decision is not necessarily one month. The mandate bar and saved calendar show your position in the selected term.

A budget belongs to its save§
Administrators can configure the decision count for each duration. New careers and a new eligible second term snapshot the count in force when they begin. Existing term targets stay frozen. Use your career’s displayed decision total if it differs from the defaults above.
What advances time§
A successfully saved policy decision advances the calendar by part of the term. Crises, economic drift, delayed consequences, travel recovery, birthdays and the final election follow that progress. Many side actions use a simulated-calendar-month cooldown. Replaying a scene or opening a report does not advance time.
A new second term§
Paid continuation starts a new mandate after a winning free term; it does not stretch the completed first term. A three-month term starting in May is followed by a new term starting in August. Previous reports keep their old dates, and the country continues with its saved conditions.
Real time in a challenge§
The Monthly Challenge uses a real calendar-month deadline in Lagos time. It has three policy decisions, independent of a normal ten-decision career. Real deadlines and simulated term progress are separate clocks.
